Campgrounds in the Lynchburg Area

Campgrounds and their amenities

The two closest public campgrounds in the Lynchburg area are Holiday Lake and Paradise Lake. 

Holiday Lake is a Virginia State Park deep in the heart of Appomattox Buckingham State Forest.  It is a paradise for the outdoor lover.  Fishing for large mouth bass, yellow perch, crappie and bluegill is a common pastime in the 150 acre lake.Brown and rainbow trout is also fished for in the trout stream.  The park offers trails for hikers, bikers and equestrians.  The park facilities included a 30 site campground, a large shaded picnic area, two picnic shelters, two playgrounds, a boat ramp, a seasonal full-service concession stand, a camp store, and a canoe, rowboat and paddle boat rentals.
The park is minutes from Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, the site of General Robert E. Lee's surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant in 1865.  Lynchburg is approximately 35 miles north of the park.

Paridise Lake is the closest campground to Lynchburg.  There are 127 campsites, 2 sanitary bath houses, stocked lake, L.P Gas, Cottage and Cabin Rentals, Newly Remodeled Game Room including billiards, Water and electric hookups, Convenience store, wireless internet, Pets on leash, and Seasonal sites.  Paradise Lake is approximately 16 miles south of Lynchburg.
